STRIKEFORCE "FEIJAO VS. HENDERSON" RESULTS: Marloes Coenen retains title with fourth round submission win over Liz Carmouche

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

LogoStrikeforce2010_105_110.png
Marloes Coenen had her own Anderson Silva moment on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio, as she bounced back from a beating in rounds two and three to submit challenger Liz Carmouche in the fourth round of their Championship bout.

The Women's 135 lb. Champion made her first successful title defense after a rough beginning to the fight. A rather innocuous first round saw Coenen edge the scorecard, but things picked up in the second.

Carmouche took Coenen down with a couple of minutes left in the second round, and very quickly moved to the mount. In both the second and third rounds, she achieved the mount with relative ease, and spent the bulk of the rounds laying down punishment on Coenen. In all, Carmouche out-landed Coenen 221 to 48 overall in the fight, but the success she had in the second and third wouldn't do her any good in the fourth.

Coenen took Carmouche down early in the round, but Carmouche got back to her feet and took Coenen down yet again. However, Coenen worked immediately toward a triangle choke that she locked on, and forced Carmouche to tap out.

The win was her second straight, and her successful defense likely keeps the originally planned bout for this card with Meisha Tate next in line.

Penick's Analysis: This was a really fun fight. Carmouche proved herself to be a very game challenger despite only two week's notice for a five round Championship fight, and she came close to taking the title there a couple of times when she was on Coenen in the mount. But Coenen proved why she's an extremely dangerous fighter with that fourth round submission. It was beautifully applied after she was taken down and she got it on tight in quick fashion.

Bellator Champ Zack Makovsky Looks to Join World Bantamweight Elite

Zack Makovsky captured his first championship belt in 2010 after winning Bellator's inaugural bantamweight tournament. Makovsky's rise to glory came quietly, which is not surprising given his soft-spoken nature. Still, it was an accomplishment worthy of some bragging rights, particularly given his grinding schedule; Makovsky fought six times in eight months in 2010, winning all his fights.

With the championship, Makovsky put himself on the international MMA radar, though he hasn't been a surprise to those in the know. Among those was his Philadelphia Fight Factory teammate and fellow Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez, who told MMA Fighting that he forecasted Makovsky's success from the beginning.

"For people who don't know about Zack, you're going to find out," Alvarez said. "You don't need my words to tell you, you're going to find out very soon. The first time I met him, before I ever won a title, I said to him, 'You're going to be a world champion.' That was maybe 5-6 years ago. He just had certain qualities where you knew that he was not going to have it any other way. Some guys just have what it takes. It's not the talent, speed, strength or whatever, it's the attitude. And he had that attitude to be a world champion."

Down Side to WEC's Downfall: Joseph Benavidez Gets Buried

When the UFC announced that it was absorbing its little brother promotion, World Extreme Cagefighting, most mixed martial arts fans saw that as a good thing: The WEC had great fighters, and moving them into the UFC would mean increased exposure for those fighters.

It isn't working out that way for Joseph Benavidez.

Benavidez, who's recognized by most MMA observers as the second- or third-best bantamweight in the world, won't have his UFC debut shown on television. The fight between Benavidez and Ian Loveland at UFC 128 next week won't be on the pay-per-view broadcast, won't be on the Spike TV broadcast, and won't even be on the live Facebook stream prior to the broadcast. And that stinks.

UFC On Versus 3 Rating: With Numbers Lower Than Ever, How Long Will The UFC Remain On Versus?

As a whole, I really enjoyed the recent ?ufc on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann? event. UFC NEWS: Diego Sanchez, Martin Kampmann medically suspended indefinitely following three round war at UFC on Versus 3

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

UFC_on_Versus_3_poster_180_15.jpg
Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann were each issued indefinite medical suspensions stemming from their three round war at last week's UFC on Versus 3 event in Louisville, Ky.

The Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority revealed the suspensions on Monday, which are currently in place until the results of the on-site doctor's examination results come back.

Both fighters will be off suspension once cleared by doctors for the damage suffered in their three round bout, which aired live on Versus from the KFC Yum! Center in the headlining bout of the night's card.

Sanchez earned a unanimous decision victory, but suffered several facial injuries in the bout that need to be cleared. Kampmann needs clearance on his right hand from an orthopedic surgeon, though what was initially feared to be a break is not expected to be.

Despite the injuries suffered and the possible layoff they're looking at, both fighters earned an extra $160,000 in bonuses for their "Fight of the Night" to tide them over.

Other fighters suspended on the night's card were C.B. Dollaway, Todd Brown and Thiago Tavares, who each received 60 day medical suspensions due to getting knocked out on the card.

Penick's Analysis: Kampmann tweeted last week that the hand wasn't broken, so he'll likely get clearance to return to action a lot sooner than Sanchez. The facial injuries inflicted upon Sanchez were such that he'll probably be barred from contact for some time. But it shouldn't be anything too serious overall for either. It was a hell of a fight and a great battle, but both definitely paid the price for it.

UFC ON VERSUS 3 RESULTS: Diego Sanchez edges Martin Kampmann by decision in Louisville

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

UFC_on_Versus_3_poster_180_14.jpg
Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann battled over three rounds on Thursday in Louisville, Ky. in the main event of the UFC's third event on the Versus network, and though Sanchez's face certainly showed him being worse for wear, he took the unanimous decision win from the judges.

The hotly contested main event saw both fighters damage the other throughout all 15 minutes of the fight, but Sanchez took the decision despite being outlanded nearly 2-1 during the fight.

The first round was all Kampmann, as he stuffed a number of takedown attempts from Sanchez and completely out-struck him in the round.

The second wasn't nearly as clear cut. Kampmann again stuffed every takedown attempt by Sanchez, but the newly named "Dream" continued to press the action throughout the round, and in some wild flurries Sanchez scored with some hard strikes that buckled Kampmann.

The third round saw an extension of the last few minutes of round number two, as Sanchez pressed the action with wild flurries, but Kampmann avoided a number of strikes and scored with some of his own. The close round was put in question further by a successfully completed takedown by Sanchez into side control. But the fight was only on the ground for a matter of moments before Kampmann got back to his feet.

Ultimately, all three judges felt Sanchez did enough to win the second and third rounds, despite a badly battered face that was bruised and bleeding profusely by the end of the fight. Though the reaction to the fight's outcome was largely negative, Sanchez earned his second straight win, and Kampmann his third straight loss.

Penick's Analysis: I had Kampmann winning the fight 29-28, but there are arguments for scoring the fight anywhere from 29-28 Sanchez to 30-27 Kampmann. This is one of those fights that test what the scoring criteria is and perhaps what it should be, but far too many are completely writing off the damage Sanchez did do when he connected on some of his punches. Kampmann may have accumulated more strikes landed overall, but Sanchez did have a major effect when he landed his strikes in the second and third rounds. It's a matter of what you took more into account in those rounds, and a score for Sanchez isn't at all unthinkable. Either way, it was an excellent fight.

Weidman wins UFC debut at UFC on Versus 3

Chris Weidman won his UFC debut, beating Alessio Sakara in a decision at UFC on Versus 3 in Louisville on Thursday. Weidman won the fight 30-27 on all three judges cards after taking the bout on just two weeks notice.

Sakara controlled the action in the first round, despite sustaining a cut in the first minute of the bout. He stuffed Weidman's takedown attempts, and managed to land more strikes. But Weidman, an All-American wrestler at Hofsta, became more comfortable in the second round. He quickly took Sakara down, and worked ground and pound, giving Sakara another cut. Blood poured from Sakara's head, making the octagon a bloody mess. With two minutes left in the round, Sakara escaped and landed kicks and punches, then shook off another takedown attempt.

The bout was stopped for a moment as Sakara's cut was checked. Sakara didn't want to stop fighting and simply wiped his head on the referee's shirt. The cut was cleaned up, and according to Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, the doctor only should have checked it, not cleaned it.

Weidman returned to the takedown early in the third round, working ground and pound until the referee stood them up. That only led Weidman to another double-leg takedown. He maintained control through the end of the bout, earning himself a winning, if not exciting, debut in the UFC.

For Sakara, this is his first loss after wins over James Irvin, Thales Leites and Joe Vedepo. His record falls to 15-8, while Weidman remains undefeated, getting his fifth win.

White UFC 127 vlog: Recovering from broken eye, Koscheck is surfing!

Dana White's latest vlog takes the viewer from Hawaii to Sydney. White arrives in Australia and hits Bondi beach where UFC fighters and Octagon girls are surfing.

That's right Brittney Palmer and Arianny Celeste are soaking wet in bathing suits (3:00 mark).

The craziest scene is seeing Josh Koscheck emerging from the water (4:05 mark).

That's the same Koscheck, who suffered a broken orbital bone against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124 in early December. Koscheck tells White the eye is doing fine but he still feels numbness on the right side of his face and teeth at times. He's surfing? That's nuts. Koscheck says he still has five months of recovery ahead.

On a side note, Tiki Ghosn also saved White's life ... twice (2:08 mark).

UFC 127 Confidence Game UPDATE

By Rich Hansen, MMA Torch Columnist:

Whoops. I almost. screwed up the confidence game worse than Jorge Rivera deciding to fight after the illegal knee. Fortunately, I at least can rectify things.

Long time participant Tony Schuck sent in an entry well before the deadline had passed, and I flat missed it.

Making things worse, he scored 45 points, tying for the confidence points victory.

On top of that, he had more rounds and methods than Daniel Moore.

On top of that, I totally forgot to publish the fact that since we switched to the confidence game, I'm using a new tie-breaker method. a method which Tony loses.

Whoops.

So, here's what we're going to do.

Tony and Daniel will BOTH advance to UFC 128, where they will take on Confidence Game champion Skarz in a Three Way Dance for the title. I feel this is the most fair way to proceed. And since we aren't playing for anything other than bragging rights, and I am a dictator, that's how we're going to move on.

Here is the tie-breaking method that I forgot to publish since taking over the game. The FIRST tie-breaker is simply who picks the most winners, disregarding points. Tony went 7-5, Daniel went 6-6, both earning 45 points.

Tony also submitted a betting entry, but that entry did not contend for the title. Tony's results are below.

Tony Schuck - 45 points - $930
$500 on Penn for $500
$200 on Warburton for $430

Hansen's Analysis: I'm an idiot.

BELLATOR NEWS: Christian "Tonton" M'Pumbu joins season four light heavyweight tournament field

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

Logo_Bellator_150_242.jpg
Bellator's season four light heavyweight tournament field is nearly complete, as the organization on Friday confirmed Christian "Tonton" M'Pumbu as the sixth participant in the upcoming tournament.

The African born French fighter makes his Bellator debut bringing a 15-3-1 record, having finished 12 of his 15 victories by submission or TKO.

"Christian's dangerous in every facet of the game and he could use this platform on MTV2 to establish himself as a force in the 205 division," said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney.

"I have wanted to take a step up in competition for some time now. I'm ready for this," said M?Pumbu. "I truly believe that I will be the Bellator World Light Heavyweight Champion. I'm excited about the future. Hard work always pays off."

Bellator's fourth season kicks off on March 5, and airs every Saturday night for 12 weeks on MTV2, and M'Pumbu now joins Richard Hale, Nik Fekete, Chris Davis, D.J. Linderman, and Tim Carpenter as the confirmed participants in this field.

Champ Comes Back: Marloes Coenen Submits Liz Carmouche

by Michael David SmithCoenen submits Carmouche at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson.Marloes Coenen had a comeback worthy of a champion Saturday night, taking a brutal beating before pulling off a fourth-round submission to defeat Liz Carmouche and retain her Strikeforce 135-pound championship belt.

It was no surprise that Coenen won with a submission off her back -- that's her specialty -- but it was a surprise that she took so much punishment before she got there: Carmouche was a huge underdog, but she had thoroughly pounded on Coenen in the second and third rounds of the fight, and appeared to be close to pulling off a major upset.

But Coenen, in a move reminiscent of Anderson SIlva's comeback victory over Chael Sonnen, used a triangle choke off her back to force Carmouche to tap in the fourth.

"Liz was whipping my ass," Coenen said. "She will be a future champ some day."

Bellator Welterweights Good, Hieron, Hawn, Weedman Advance

Filed under:

The fourth season of Bellator Fighting Championships started Thursday night on MTV2 with Brent Weedman, Rick Hawn, Jay Hieron and Lyman Good winning their fights and advancing to the semifinals of Bellator's welterweight tournament.

It was a good start to Season 4 for Bellator, and a solid if not spectacular fight card, although it wasn't without controversy, particularly in Hieron's victory, which came on a bad stoppage with a referee who made a major mistake.

Weedman's unanimous decision victory over Dan Hornbuckle was a sensational bout, with back-and-forth ground action that had both guys in danger of being submitted multiple times. All three judges scored it 29-28 for Weedman, but it easily could have gone 29-28 for Hornbuckle, and many of the fans in Lemoore, California, booed the judges' verdict. Weedman was classy, saying, "Dan's the toughest opponent I've ever faced in over 30 fights." Weedman had what appeared to be a significant cut on his left eyelid, which will bear watching as he needs to return for the semifinals in less than two months.

UFC NEWS: UFC on Versus 3 to air to be broadcast in 3D (UPDATED)

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

UFC_on_Versus_3_poster_180_6.jpg
The UFC's third event on Versus this Thursday will be their first ever event in 3D, according to a report from SportsBusinessDaily.com.

The broadcast, which will be sponsored by Comcast Xfinity, will feature a whole other production setup aside from the UFC's regular broadcast on the network.

While the normal broadcast will air to most viewers as usual, the 3D broadcast will feature Todd Harris and Kenny Florian on commentary.

The Diego Sanchez vs. Martin Kampmann headlined event takes place from the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., next Thursday, March 3. Comcast, Cox, Verizon, Massillon Cable, Blue Ridge and Armstrong have all signed on to air the 3D broadcast.

Link to Original Source Article

Penick's Analysis: This will be interesting for those that have access to this broadcast, and it's another step in the progression of the UFC. It may not be anything more than a novelty right now, but it will still be a cool new way to experience a UFC broadcast.

UPDATED 2/28: The UFC has now officially announced the 3D broadcast, promising new camera angles never before seen on a UFC broadcast. UFC President Dana White also commented on putting these fights on in 3D.

Chael Sonnen Wants Michael Bisping... I Want Chael Sonnen To Finally Admit That He's Insane

It appears that Chael Sonnen is in the news again. And in typical Sonnen fashion, he took time out of his busy schedule of personal problems and scandals in order to spit venom at another fighter. My initial gut reaction was to make a post spitting just as much venom back, but there?s a saying [...]

STRIKEFORCE NEWS: Marloes Coenen fine with replacement Liz Carmouche, looks forward to eventual bout with Meisha Tate

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

LogoStrikeforce2010_105_99.png
Strikeforce Women's Champion Marloes Coenen finds herself with a new opponent just a week out from her first title defense with Meisha Tate suffering a knee injury, but she still looks forward to a meeting with Tate down the line.

In an interview with MMAJunkie.com, Coenen expressed some disapproval for the way Tate has marketed herself thus far in the sport.

"It would have been a very good fight... because she's presenting herself as being a cute girl... and I present myself a different way," Coenen said. "Let's put it like that... I'm a professional, so I'm not going to hate somebody for how they present themselves and want to beat them up more.

"But I do believe that we as women are the pioneers of the sport, and what we do will set the blueprint for the next generation. I believe we have to present ourselves as worthy and honorable women. How you do that is up to you, but I do it differently than Miesha does."

For now, however, Coenen turns her attention to Liz Carmouche, and despite the last minute nature of this fight, Coenen's fine in taking the fight, and expects a good stylistic matchup.

"It wasn't disappointing because I know I will get a shot at [Tate] again," Coenen said. "And Liz is very talented. I like it. She's a good opponent, and her standup is even better than Miesha's. Props to her."

"MMA is a sport, and it always stays MMA. So I feel well-rounded in all the areas of the game. Liz is a little different of a fighter than Miesha is. I believe Liz is very talented, and she will be a big star in the coming years."

Coenen and Carmouche meet in the co-main event of next weekend's Strikeforce event from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Penick's Analysis: It's going to be a conflict for a lot of women fighters trying to make names for themselves in a male dominated sport to market themselves in certain ways. Fighters like Gina Carano and Meisha Tate have taken the road of being somewhat sex symbols, while others like Coenen have and Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos have simply let their performances speak for themselves. Still, that's not to say there is anything wrong with Carano or Tate taking that route for themselves, but Coenen's reaction to that type of hype isn't surprising either.

UFC 127: Dennis Siver Beats George Sotiropoulos

by Michael David SmithIn a surprising lightweight result in Sydney, Dennis Siver won a unanimous decision over Australia's own George Sotiropoulos at UFC 127.

It was a very good fight that Siver won on the judges' scorcards by scores of 29-28, 30-28 and 30-27, improving his professional record to 18-7. Sotiropoulos falls to 14-3, and snaps an eight-fight winning streak.

"It was a hard, hard fight, but I could (follow) my game plan, and that's why I won," the German Siver said afterward, through his translator. "We trained so much every day."

James Irvin vs. Houston Alexander II off Shark Fights 14 due to drug test, injury

It looks like the rematch will have to wait.

Both James Irvin and Houston Alexander won't be able to fight at Shark Fights 14, though for very different reasons.

Irvin has been pulled from the fight following an alleged positive test for steroids. Alexander has sustained an undisclosed injury in training that has ousted him, too, from the rematch.

Teammates give Strikeforce champ "Feijao" insider Henderson knowledge

When Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante was nothing more than an MMA neophyte, Dan Henderson was already a kingpin.

By the time "Feijao" stepped into the cage for the first time in 2006, Henderson was the PRIDE welterweight champion and had 23 total fights to his credit.

Fast forward to present day, where the pair has somehow managed to cross paths and soon will fight one another with the Strikeforce light-heavyweight title on the line.

UFC Should Shut Down Homophobic Slurs

by Michael David Smith

In the UFC's latest promotional video blog for this weekend's UFC 127 card, Michael Bisping uses a homophobic slur to insult his opponent, Jorge Rivera. This is the latest example of an ongoing problem of people involved with the UFC using completely unacceptable language. It needs to stop.

To be more specific, the UFC needs to stop it: The biggest and best mixed martial arts organization in the world needs to tell its fighters, staff and other employees that in 2011, homophobic slurs aren't acceptable, and that those who can't or won't refrain from using such language are going to face serious consequences. And the UFC certainly shouldn't feature the use of homophobic slurs in promotional materials like this video blog on the UFC's own YouTube channel.

UFC NEWS: Darren Elkins dropping to featherweight, expected to meet Michihiro Omigawa at UFC 131 in June

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

LogoUFC_150_796.jpg
Darren Elkins is dropping down to the featherweight division, and is expected to face Michihiro Omigawa at UFC 131 in June, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.

The 12-2 Elkins split his two appearances in the UFC's lightweight division in 2010, spending a total of 85 seconds inside of the Octagon. His UFC debut was cut short when opponent Duane "Bang" Ludwig suffered a nasty ankle injury just 44 seconds into the first round. His second bout ended even more quickly, but this time it wasn't in his favor. Brazilian buzzsaw Charles Oliveira caught him in an armbar in 41 seconds to hand him his second career loss.

He's now agreed to meet Omigawa, who returned to the UFC at UFC 126 earlier this month. After dropping to the featherweight division himself in 2008 after two straight losses in the UFC in his first stint with the organization, Omigawa compiled an 8-2-1 record in Japan before returning to the UFC. However, his return saw him get battered for three rounds against Chad Mendes, his first loss since a 2009 split decision loss to Masanori Kanehara in the Sengoku Featherweight Grand Prix finals.

UFC 131 is expected to take place from Vancouver on June 11, headlined by a heavyweight bout between Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos.

Link to Original Source Article

Penick's Analysis: This is an interesting fight. Omigawa had a lot of success over in Japan, but he lost decisively upon his return against Mendes. But Elkins is a complete wild card, as his two UFC fights haven't lasted long, and his "win" came because of a freak injury. Also, his only other career loss came by TKO 13 seconds into a fight in May of 2009. But he's only gone to decision twice in his career, and holds a win over current Bellator #1 contender and tournament winner Pat Curran. He could do a lot of damage at featherweight, but this will be a big test to see just where he'll stand in the division. I like the matchup.

BELLATOR NEWS: Former Sengoku Featherweight Champion Marlon Sandro signs with Bellator

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

Logo_Bellator_150_238.jpg
Bellator has made a huge signing in their featherweight division, as they announced on Wednesday that former Sengoku champ Marlon Sandro has joined the roster. He will not take part in the season four tournament, but he will debut in 2011.

"Marlon Sandro is a phenomenal talent at 145 lbs.," said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney. "Our Featherweight division is absolutely stacked and Sandro pushes that talent pool to an even higher level, I'm thrilled to have him on board."

Sandro brings a 17-2 record into Bellator, with his two career losses coming by decision to Michihiro Omigawa and Hatsu Hioki. His departure from Sengoku is another blow to the Japanese organization, but Sandro will make his U.S. debut on MTV2 when he appears this year.

Penick's Analysis: This is a huge signing for Bellator. Sandro is a top ten featherweight, and makes a fantastic addition to Bellator's featherweight roster. Joe Warren's got a great non-title opponent for season four if Bellator wants to go that route.

According to Jon Fitch, milk is a bad choice

Yahoo! Sports looked at the vegetarian habits of fighters last week, with their motives both humanitarian and for health. In this video, Jon Fitch talks about his issues with milk. (Note: Fitch isn't a registered dietician, so take his advice with the recommended dosage of salt.)

Has anyone told Fitch that milk is delicious? Because it is and I am enjoying a glass of yummy skim milk as I type this.

Fighters have worked plenty of different diet plans, everything from Diego Sanchez and stevia to the popular Dolce Diet and Fuel the Fighter. The important thing to remember is that fighters' should be finely tuned to their training because they expend an insane amount of calories in training, and they have to time their eating habits around weighing in and fight night. That doesn't mean their nutrional choices are wrong, but their needs are very different than an average Joe or Jane.

Former 'Crocodile Hunter' bodyguard, Noke rolls over Camozzi at UFC 127

During the many chapters of his life, Kyle Noke has seen it all. He's looking to make the MMA chapter his most interesting. A former bodyguard for Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, Noke stormed to a 3-0 mark in the UFC after an easy win tonight over Chris Camozzi in the pay-per-view opener at UFC 127.

A native of New South Wales, Australia, Noke served as one of Irwin's bodyguards for three years and also worked with his Aussie brother on his martial arts skills. Irwin, who passed away in 2006, was a huge MMA fan.

"Strong, very strong," Noke told MMAjunkie.com of Irwin's ability. "He had that strength from wrestling crocs all his life from pulling them in and holding them tight. We'd never let him get on top because he would just hold you down as tight as he could."

Irwin did more than employ Noke, he backed his fighting efforts.

"He's one of the reasons why I'm here where I am now. He sponsored me and paid for my first flights to the States. He really pushed me to follow my career and follow my passion," Noke told the Sydney Morning Herald. "He used to help us prepare for fights. He had such an eye for detail through what he had been doing for so many years. You only have to watch the guy on TV to know how much passion the guy has got. If I could channel that passion in fighting for wildlife then that's a great start."

Irwin was an MMA devotee and according to Noke, The reality star even entertained fighting and donating the proceeds to charity.

Noke looked inspired from the opening seconds. Camozzi charged him for a single-leg takedown attempt, but the Aussie thwarted the effort with some underhooks. He showed his power by pushing forward, scoring a takedown and falling into the mount position. Camozzi did a solid job of avoiding big shots for a few seconds, but allowed Noke to crawl up his body.

Noke (19-4-1, 3-0 UFC) appeared to be setting up an armbar or inverted triangle when Camozzi tried to escape out the backdoor. Noke was quick to react by taking Camozzi's back. The Aussie flattened out Camozzi and tapped him with a rear-naked choke at 1:35 of the first.

Camozzi was a familiar opponent for Noke. They were castmates on Season 11 of "The Ultimate Fighter." Noke lost via unanimous decision to Kris McCray during the TUF 11 quarterfinals, but he appeared to be one of the better prospects on the show.

Fighting out of Jackson's MMA in Albuquerque, Noke, 30, is just moving into his prime. He has a well-rounded game and a chance to do some damage in the UFC.
