Yep, the Octagon Girls hear every lewd thing you yell
Since covering my first UFC event, I've had a burning question for the women who serve as Octagon Girls. Do they actually hear the lewd things yelled at them, or are they so focused on not falling off the narrow apron that surrounds the Octagon that they block the whistles, cheers and sometimes-crude shouts out?
It turns out that their hearing is just fine. Brittney Palmer and Chandella Powell from the UFC and Stephanie Anne-Cook from the Las Vegas-based promotion Tuff-n-Uff discussed how they are received with Mike Straka.
Brittney Palmer, the WEC Octagon Girl who recently crossed over to the UFC, knows you like her butt. You probably don't have to yell that to her for the 30th time.

Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson post-fight press conference notes
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After the fights were over, the fighters from Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson had plenty to say.
-- "Beating the opponent was the most important thing, and the belt was the cherry on top. But I do like cherries," Dan Henderson said after winning the championship with a knockout of Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante. Though the Strikeforce light heavyweight belt has not yet been successfully defended, Henderson insists he's not supersitious.
He also said that Cavalcante's strength advantage was not a problem.
"All throughout my career in wrestling and MMA, I've learned that it's about technique and position. I've never felt weak against big and strong guys because of that. I'm big on the inside," Henderson said.
"Henderson is a tough guy. He does what he does well," Cavalcante said.
-- Liz Carmouche impressed the MMA world even in loss, as she took her fight with champion Marloes Coenen on two-weeks notice and still took two rounds from her. Carmouche says that she can't wait to return to the gym. She also said that she did not tap from the second-round guillotine.
"It was tight, but I wasn't tapping for sure," Carmouche said.
After the fight, Coenen said that she believes that Carmouche will be the champion. Carmouche was touched by the idea.
"I felt like I won for a second. I can't express what that did for me."
-- Marloes Coenen said that she was appreciative of having a referee who let the fight continue, because she felt her bout against Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos was stopped too quickly. When asked if Carmouche's strength was a factor, Coenen answered, "Did you look at her?"
She also had a short answer on if she'd like another shot at Cyborg. "Definitely."
-- Tim Kennedy called out Robbie Lawler for his next possible opponent, but said that he would like another shot at the Strikeforce middleweight belt, currently held by Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza.
"Of course I want the title, but I want to fight the best. Strikeforce has the best heavyweights in the world, but we're contenders in the middleweights, with the athlete we have."

JAPAN: Scheduled MMA events affected by tragic earthquake, tsunami in Japan

Tragedy struck in Japan on Friday, as an 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck the country, and the tsunamis that ensued have done massive damage to the much of the country. According to CNN's report on the earthquake, though the epicenter was 231 miles from the nation's capital, Tokyo, residents of that city felt the tremors, and the the natural disaster has hit the country hard.
The tragic happenings have had an effect on the MMA scene in the country for this weekend, at least, as three separate events were scheduled to take place. Jewels, Shooto and Pancrase have all canceled events due to Friday's earthquake. Even though they were all scheduled in cities away from most of the damage, there was enough done in their locations to warrant cancelation.
For those that would like to help in assisting those in need in Japan, check out the information below from GlobalGiving.org for information on how to donate. Provided is also some more information on what your donations would go towards, and we wish the best for all affected by Friday's tragedy.

We will post more details of the specific use of funds as soon as possible. All donors will get email updates on how their funds have been used.
How will this project solve this problem?
This project will disburse funds to organizations providing relief and emergency services to victims of the earthquake and tsunami. GlobalGiving is working with International Medical Corps, Save the Children, and other organizations on the ground.
Potential Long Term Impact
Major disasters always require a huge amount of international support to provide relief and long term recovery efforts. In the case of Japan, these initial funds will help survivors and victims get necessary services.

Bellator's lightweight tournament kicked off on Saturday in Shreveport, Louisiana, and now the semifinal pairings are set for Bellator 40 on April 9.
Two-time tournament finalist Toby Imada will meet Patricky "Pitbull" Freire, and undefeated three-time Bellator competitor Michael Chandler will meet Lloyd Woodard on the card.
Imada defeated late replacement Josh Shockley when he injured Shockley's arm during a submission attempt. Freire, meanwhile, upset former WEC Lightweight Champion "Razor" Rob McCullough by TKO in the third round of their bout.
Chandler earned a submission win in the first round over Marcin Held, while Woodard advanced with a second round TKO over Carey Vanier.
Bellator 40 takes place from the First Council Casino in Newkirk, Okla., and will also feature Bellator Welterweight Champ Ben Askren in non-title action against Nick "The Goat" Thompson. The card will air live on MTV2.

UFC NEWS: UFC signs Norwegian heavyweight Jon Olav Einemo

The UFC has signed Norwegian heavyweight Jon Olav Einemo, according to a report from Ariel Helwani at MMAFighting.com.
The 35-year-old member of Team Golden Glory compiled a 6-1 record in MMA competition from 2000-2006, but left the sport for nearly four years after a win over James Thompson. He returned to MMA last June, defeating Kresimir Bogdanovic in Bosnia.
The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt has been successful in competition at the Abu Dhabi Combat Club tournaments, and is the only person to defeat multi-time ADCC champion Roger Gracie in grappling competition.
There's no word on the length of the contract, or when, where and against whom Einemo will debut against, though he'll likely debut sometime soon.

Penick's Analysis: Einemo's only career loss was to Fabricio Werdum in his one fight in Pride, and though his career was spent against an overall lesser level of competition in Europe, he's got a very good primary skill set in his jiu jitsu game that can play a major factor. He wouldn't be a name upon his debut, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him tapped for someone like Shane Carwin in June, who doesn't have an opponent yet. I think Einemo would be more interesting than Cheick Kongo at this point for Carwin, personally, but it's not necessarily a likely move on the UFC's part with a debuting fighter. Still, prior to leaving the sport at the end of 2006, Einemo finished all of his fights except for a decision loss to Werdum. He'll be a good addition to a division that can always use more depth.

Bellator will return to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. three times in 2011, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The venue played host to the kick-off events in seasons one, two and three, and the organization has run there on three more occasions as well.
This year, they will head to the venue for their first special one-off summer event in between seasons, and then twice during season 5.
"The Seminole Hard Rock has been part of the Bellator brand since our very first show, and I'm thrilled that we will be producing a series of live, primetime Bellator events on MTV2 at the Seminole Hard Rock in 2011 and beyond,? said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney.
The dates for Bellator's three events at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in 2011 are Saturdays June 25, September 17 and November 19.

If we fought now I would not be so reckless, pace myself and look for an opening. But I found what it takes to get myself back on track. Now I'm on a three fight winning streak, fighting Mirko Cro Cop in my next fight, so life is good man. You learn, you live...
As far as the title shot talk goes, I have my hands full with Mirko [Cro Cop]. But man, beating guys like Gabriel Gonzaga and Mirko Cro Cop says it all. I don't think I'm too far away from a title shot. I think I'm two fights away.
The game changed a lot recently. And I think that Mirko [has] done a better job adjusting his game than [other] guys that [have] been losing lately. For instance, I know he's training with Dean Lister on his Jiu-Jitsu, and doing many other adjustments to his game. Many other heavyweights just didn't change, and the game has passed them up a little bit. The game is constantly changing and you gotta adapt. Right now there are athletes out there who can do it all, so you gotta be prepared. But again, I think Mirko [has] done a really good job by keeping up with the wave."

He'll need to win at least two more fights after the Cro Cop bout, and he'll have to beat an even higher level of competition, as despite Cro Cop's name he's not a top flight heavyweight in 2011. Still, he is a name, and a win over him still means something, so this fight is huge for Schaub. If he can pass this test, he'll get another step up, and he is only a few more steps away from perhaps getting a crack at the title himself. He's got a decent sized road still ahead of him, but as he continues to improve he can certainly make that run.

The Bellator Season 4 Lightweight Tournament kicked off with a bang at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, and the Lightweights left nothing to the judges with all fights ending with spectacular finishes. The night saw Bellator?s Lightweight Tournament field get cut in half, with Michael Chandler, Lloyd ?Cupcake? Woodard, Toby Imada, and Patricky Freire moving onto the Semifinals. Chandler kept his MMA record unblemished by defeating Marcin Held via a first round arm triangle submission in a battle between two rising MMA stars. Chandler, the former Division I All-American, displayed a viscous ground and pound prior to submitting Held in the closing minutes of the first round. <br><Br>
This was just the beginning of an action-packed Bellator 36. <Br><Br>
Lloyd ?Cupcake? Woodard impressed in his Bellator debut showing excellent balance and takedown defense on his way to a second round TKO of veteran Carey Vanier. A Woodard left hook early in the second round left Vanier noticeably shaken, ?Cupcake? subsequently finished him with strong ground and pound to earn the TKO just 46 seconds into the round.<Br><Br>
Last minute replacement Josh Shockley was no match for 2009 Submission of the Year winner Toby Imada, as Imada displayed his superior ground game by submitting Shockley with a text book armbar in the first round. Shockley had some success early when on his feet, but once the fight went to the ground, Imada dominated to earn the victory. <Br><Br>
The night?s final fight was an absolute battle that ended with a Patricky ?Pitbull? Freire highlight knockout of ?Razor? Rob McCullough in the closing round. Freire dominated McCullough early, but couldn?t put the veteran away. McCullough came back strong in rounds two and three, but Freire answered with a huge right hand that sends the Brazilian to the semi-finals. <Br><Br>

Strikeforce weigh-in: Henderson's uphill climb against much bigger Feijao
Dan Henderson's been here before looking across at a much bigger opponent, but it can't be getting easier at the age of 40. The legendary grappler has built a career on try to take down the huge dudes at light heavyweight and he's got another big test in front of him tomorrow night in Columbus, Oh. when he battles Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Rafael Feijao.
Feijao will probably step into the cage around 225 pounds. There was a time when he fought at heavyweight in the low 230-pound range. Henderson maxes out around 208 pounds.
“One of the benefits of fighting at 205 is I get to enjoy my food. One of the drawbacks is I have to fight guys [Feijao’s] size," Henderson said. "Obviously, I wouldn’t be here if winning a world title wasn’t one of my goals. But the challenge of fighting someone like Feijao is exciting. He’s big, he’s tough and he’s strong. I would definitely enjoy having the belt but the reason I fight is for the challenge."
The Feijao-Henderson fight is one of two scheduled five-rounders. Marloes Coenen will defend her Strikeforce title for the first time against Liz Carmouche.

Strikeforce to adopt Unified Rules, elbows on the ground to be legalized

While there are many questions that remain unanswered in the early stages of Zuffa's purchase of Strikeforce, one big change for Strikeforce was revealed during a media conference call on Monday.
According to Zuffa owner and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, they will be implementing the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts in Strikeforce, removing Strikeforce's previous rule set.
Strikeforce's modified rule set made elbows on the ground illegal, but that will no longer be the case. It wasn't made clear whether that change will be immediately implemented, though that is likely to be the case.
Strikeforce's next event is the 15th edition of their "Challengers" series on April 1, airing live on Showtime from the Stockton Arena in Stockton, California.
Penick's Analysis: This is a great change for Strikeforce. Disallowing elbows on the ground was a detriment to ground and pound fighters, as it took away a major weapon from their arsenal once the fight hit the ground. We've seen it demonstrated as a vicious tool with the ability to end fights, perhaps most notably just from Jon Jones in two fights in 2010, and it's something that would have been useful to many fighters under Strikeforce's employ in the past. With the Unified Rules in place, that tool is back in play for a lot of fighters.

-After the gladiator intro, it's time for another UFC event on the Versus network. Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan open up the show and run down what's on tap for tonight's fights. First up is the rematch between Brian Bowles and Damacio Page after a commercial break.
[Commercial Break]
FIGHT ONE: BRIAN BOWLES VS. DAMACIO PAGE (BANTAMWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Page swings heavy right off the bat. Page comes forward with a high kick and a big knee but Bowles takes it in stride. Bowles circles away from another attack. Page landed a couple of heavy leg kicks. He jumped up for another flying kick. He is coming in very aggressive to start this fight. Bowles came forward with an overhand right that grazed Page. Bowles countered a leg kick with a two punch combo. Bowles landed two and Page countered. Bowles missed a right and just barely avoided the counter. Page came in with a knee and landed a kick to the body. Bowles landed a nice right to the body. Bowles landed a left. He landed an uppercut that hurt page. He caught a kick from Page and put him on the ground. He started landing a number of strikes on the ground and then locked up a guillotine. Page tried to fight it off, but he went out cold.

WINNER: Bowles via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:30 of the first round
POST FIGHT: Bowles said he was expecting Page to come out like he did and counted on his footwork like he did in the first fight and it worked. He said the guillotine was his signature move and he hits it in the gym all the time.
STAR RATING: (***) Awesome one round fight. There was a lot of back and forth with Page starting out strong and Bowles giving fans a little deja vu by ending that fight at exactly the same time and in the same manner as he did their first meeting in 2008.

PRELIM FIGHT A: IGOR POKRAJAC VS. TODD BROWN (LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Pokrajac came forward immediately and kept Brown's back against the cage early. He landed a number of good strikes and got in with a nice combination. Brown pressed Pokrajac to the cage two minutes into the round. The crowd booed. Pokrajac got in a knee to the head with his back on the cage. Nice. Brown landed an uppercut. He threw a couple of knees to the thighs before Pokrajac got loose. He landed a nice punch. Brown countered him with a good punch of his own. He got in for the clinch again and pressed him to the fence. He landed a knee to the thigh. Pokrajac landed an uppercut. Brown landed a coupld of punches in close and then backed off. Pokrajac landed a head kick. Brown tried to initiate a takedown but got shrugged off. Pokrajac landed a nice right. Brown tried to circle and Pokrajac dropped him with a punch and he tried to shoot in with 30 seconds left. Pokrajac stood again. He got Brown to the cage and dropped him with a knee to the jaw. He continued throwing punches for the next 20 seconds, and the ref should have stopped that before the bell, and Brown couldn't get up after the round. The fight was stopped between rounds.
WINNER: Pokrajac via TKO at 5:00 of the first round
POST FIGHT: Pokrajac called out Tito Ortiz after the fight and requested the fight from the UFC.
STAR RATING: (**+) Great end to the round for Pokrajac and a very good performance overall. Brown offered some resistance in the clinch and with his counter right in the middle of the round, but that was all Pokrajac and he devastated him with that knee at the end.

FIGHT TWO: ALESSIO SAKARA VS. CHRIS WEIDMAN (MIDDLEWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Weidman took the center of the cage. He threw a high kick early but it didn't land. He slipped as he threw a right. Weidman is throwing some awkward looping punches. Sakara got off with a nice three punch combo and ended it with a leg kick. He got in another one after a brief combo from Weidman. Weidman threw a kick to set up the clinch and pressed Sakara to the cage. Sakara held him off, however, and got separation. Weidman landed a nice straight right. He got in with a leg kick. Weidman with a two punch combo. He covered up as Sakara threw a combo and he ate a leg kick. Weidman shot in for a single leg and turned it to a double against the cage. Sakara held him off. Weidman finally stood and separated with an elbow. Sakara got in another combination to the body. Weidman tried to land a knee to the head but missed. Weidman again shot in but was stuffed. Weidman landed a few punches. They traded punches in the center. Weidman landed a nice left. Weidman landed a left and kept Sakara's back on the cage. Weidman landed a few more punches as the round ended.
Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Weidman. He was pressing the action throughout, landed a number of good combinations of his own and cut Sakara. Sakara scored with some strikes of his own and good combos, but Weidman just edged it.
ROUND TWO: Weidman shot in for a single leg and completed a takedown very quickly into the round. Wiedman worked in the guard and then passed into side control. He landed a hard elbow and Sakara's bleeding profusely. Weidman is landing some good, hard strikes here early in the round. Sakara tried to escape and Weidman kept him down. Sakara finally swept Weidman and hopped to his feet. He landed a big combination. Weidman got back in close and took Sakara down again. Sakara was able to get back to his feet again. They pause the action to check Sakara's cut but let him return. They traded strikes. Sakara landed a nice combination to the body late in the round before it came to an end.
Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Weidman. He messed Sakara up early and survived the late onslaught. Good round for him.
ROUND THREE: Sakara landed some vicious body shot early and Weidman landed a knee to the head. Weidman shot in and completed another takedown into side control. Sakara tried to work off the cage, but Weidman moved him away. Weidman landed some strikes in side control and opened Sakara back up. Weidman is continuing to land big strikes and Sakara is in trouble. Sakara got half guard back but Weidman continued to work. The ref stood them up with two minutes left. Terrible, terrible standup. Weidman shot in and again took Sakara down against the cage into side control. Weidman worked short forearm strikes to the face. Sakara tried to escape but Weidman kept him on his back. He got to half guard and landed more strikes. Sakara got back to his feet but just briefly as Weidman took him down again. He landed a number of strikes against the cage as the fight came to an end.
Penick's Analysis: 10-9 Weidman. That was another great round to seal it for him after a close first round that could have gone either way. Considering this was only his fifth fight, that was a very good performance.
[Commercial Break]
WINNER: Weidman via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
POST FIGHT: Weidman thanked the UFC for the opportunity and said he wanted the win really bad. He said he came in there to stop him but isn't surprised he wasn't able to finish him considering he's a veteran.
STAR RATING: (**) It was a good performance from Weidman, but not an entirely thrilling fight. Sakara just didn't have an answer for the takedowns as the fight went on and took a ton of damage down the stretch.

FIGHT THREE: C.B. DOLLAWAY VS. MARK MUNOZ (MIDDLEWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Dollaway came forward and landed a hard leg kick early. Munoz tried to get in close but Dollaway got in and took him down. He almost got a good position but ended up letting Munoz stand up. Munoz cracked him with a huge right and came back at him and landed another big uppercut that sent him sprawling back. Dollaway fell to his back and Munoz landed two hammer fists and Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight. That was too early of a stoppage by Yamasaki. Dollaway was in trouble, but he was still reacting and attempting to grab Munoz. He got hit hard with four punches there.
WINNER: Munoz via TKO at :54 of the first round
POST FIGHT: Joe Rogan said Dollaway went out, I'm seeing those replays differently, but he was definitely hurt. It was quick, but Munoz had him in a bad, bad spot.
STAR RATING: (**) That ended really quickly, and the stoppage may have been a bit early, but it's still a big win for Munoz. It's a rough setback for Dollaway, and brings an end to his three fight win streak.

PRELIM FIGHT B: THIAGO TAVARES VS. SHANE ROLLER (LIGHTWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Roller landed a couple of jabs early. He pressed Tavares and landed a couple of punches. He circled away as Tavares came forward. Roller blocked a head kick. Roller landed a left and avoided the overhand right from Tavares. Roller landed a leg kick. Tavares responded with one of his own. Roller got in a body punch. Roller rushed in and missed a combo but ended nicely with a straight kick. Tavares rocked Roller with a combo and a number of strikes on the cage. Goldberg called him a mini Vitor Belfort. Not quite, Mike. Roller recovered, but he was definitely in a bad spot there briefly. He landed a couple of nice jabs on Tavares. He shot in but was held off by Tavares. Roller landed a good leg kick. Tavares blocked an overhand right. Roller pressed Tavares to the cage and landed a straight kick. They got in the clinch and Tavares landed a knee as the round ended.
Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Tavares. He did the most significant damage in the round, and though Roller was aggressive and had some good combos of his own, Tavares did more in the round.
ROUND TWO: Tavares got in with an early combination. Roller landed a kick and Tavares returned one of his own. Roller popped in with a straight right. Tavares shot in and took Roller to the ground. Roller got back to his feet nicely, but Tavares kept a body lock on the cage. Tavares finally let it go and separated. Roller then knocked Tavares out with a right out of nowhere! He followed up with a few unnecessary punches on the ground and the fight is stopped. Huge right from Roller. Tavares fell straight back like Nate Quarry when he was knocked out by Rich Franklin.
WINNER: Roller via KO at 1:28 of the second round.
POST FIGHT: Roller said he wasn't using his movement in the first round, but in the second got some feints in and landed the right.
STAR RATING: (***-) The first round had some good back and forth action, but it was the knockout in the second that brought this fight up. Huge, huge right hand from Roller and a great win. Coming off the win over Jamie Varner, Roller is on a good roll right now.

MAIN EVENT FIGHT FOUR: DIEGO SANCHEZ VS. MARTIN KAMPMANN (WELTERWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Sanchez came out to the center of the cage but they both tentatively felt each other out early. Kampmann engaged first with a short combination. Sanchez grabbed a thai clinch and landed a knee. He got in a decent short combo. Sanchez with a punch to the body. Kampmann stalked Sanchez but ate a straight right. Sanchez shot for a single leg and pressed Kampmann to the cage. Kampmann stuffed it, turned Sanchez around and landed a knee to the body. Kampmann dropped Sanchez with a straight right and grabbed a front headlock. Sanchez pulled a switch on the cage and got to his feet. They separated and Kampmann continued the striking assault. He landed a nice knee as Sanchez dropped down for a shot. He then stuffed the shot. Sanchez landed a nice pucnh. Kampmann sprawled another shot and just missed a knee. Sanchez landed a good punch to the body. Kampmann came back forward and landed a good short combination. Kampmann landed another counter right and Kampmann is battering Sanchez's face up. Sanchez shot in for a double leg again and got stuffed. Sanchez ate a counter left before the round ended.

Sanchez landed a nice left and followed it up with more punches. Sanchez shot in once more and finally completed a takedown into side control. Kampmann gave up his back but Sanchez slipped off and Kampmann got to his feet. They traded punches again. Sanchez scored with another short combo. He landed a number of big punches. Kampmann landed a nice counter punch with a minute left. Sanchez pressed Kampmann to the cage and landed a big combination. Sanchez landed another combo against the cage and he's pressind the action. Sanchez's face is bleeding profusely. He tries to chase Kampmann down but misses and gets hit even more.
Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Kampmann. Sanchez missed a lot of those punches and Kampmann lit him up late in the round. This was a close fight, and both had their moments, and really either fighter could win this one with the second and third being really close.

POST FIGHT: The crowd boos the decision. Sanchez said they both got caught with some big shots, they both got caught, but he thought he won the fight by controlling the pressure. He thanked the fans in Louisville. Sanchez's face is just messed up right now. Kampmann said he thought he won the fight and the crowd cheered for him. He said he thought he won all three rounds, but just look at Diego's face. He said he felt he landed the cleaner shots. He said Diego's a tough warrior but he's very disappointed.
STAR RATING: (***+) This was a really good fight, regardless of your thoughts on the decision. It was a close fight, especially in the second and the third. Sanchez missed a lot of his flurries, but continuously pressed the action, and did land a lot of damage when they started trading punches at the cage. Kampmann is in a position where once again he feels he won a fight but didn't do enough himself to outright claim it. It's the continuously spouted adage about not leaving it in the hands of the judges, and Kampmann simply couldn't do enough tonight to take it from the judges.

-After the gladiator intro, it's time for another UFC event on the Versus network. Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan open up the show and run down what's on tap for tonight's fights. First up is the rematch between Brian Bowles and Damacio Page after a commercial break.

FIGHT ONE: BRIAN BOWLES VS. DAMACIO PAGE (BANTAMWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Page swings heavy right off the bat. Page comes forward with a high kick and a big knee but Bowles takes it in stride. Bowles circles away from another attack. Page landed a couple of heavy leg kicks. He jumped up for another flying kick. He is coming in very aggressive to start this fight. Bowles came forward with an overhand right that grazed Page. Bowles countered a leg kick with a two punch combo. Bowles landed two and Page countered. Bowles missed a right and just barely avoided the counter. Page came in with a knee and landed a kick to the body. Bowles landed a nice right to the body. Bowles landed a left. He landed an uppercut that hurt page. He caught a kick from Page and put him on the ground. He started landing a number of strikes on the ground and then locked up a guillotine. Page tried to fight it off, but he went out cold.

WINNER: Bowles via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:30 of the first round
POST FIGHT: Bowles said he was expecting Page to come out like he did and counted on his footwork like he did in the first fight and it worked. He said the guillotine was his signature move and he hits it in the gym all the time.
STAR RATING: (***) Awesome one round fight. There was a lot of back and forth with Page starting out strong and Bowles giving fans a little deja vu by ending that fight at exactly the same time and in the same manner as he did their first meeting in 2008.

PRELIM FIGHT A: IGOR POKRAJAC VS. TODD BROWN (LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Pokrajac came forward immediately and kept Brown's back against the cage early. He landed a number of good strikes and got in with a nice combination. Brown pressed Pokrajac to the cage two minutes into the round. The crowd booed. Pokrajac got in a knee to the head with his back on the cage. Nice. Brown landed an uppercut. He threw a couple of knees to the thighs before Pokrajac got loose. He landed a nice punch. Brown countered him with a good punch of his own. He got in for the clinch again and pressed him to the fence. He landed a knee to the thigh. Pokrajac landed an uppercut. Brown landed a coupld of punches in close and then backed off. Pokrajac landed a head kick. Brown tried to initiate a takedown but got shrugged off. Pokrajac landed a nice right. Brown tried to circle and Pokrajac dropped him with a punch and he tried to shoot in with 30 seconds left. Pokrajac stood again. He got Brown to the cage and dropped him with a knee to the jaw. He continued throwing punches for the next 20 seconds, and the ref should have stopped that before the bell, and Brown couldn't get up after the round. The fight was stopped between rounds.
WINNER: Pokrajac via TKO at 5:00 of the first round
POST FIGHT: Pokrajac called out Tito Ortiz after the fight and requested the fight from the UFC.
STAR RATING: (**+) Great end to the round for Pokrajac and a very good performance overall. Brown offered some resistance in the clinch and with his counter right in the middle of the round, but that was all Pokrajac and he devastated him with that knee at the end.

FIGHT TWO: ALESSIO SAKARA VS. CHRIS WEIDMAN (MIDDLEWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Weidman took the center of the cage. He threw a high kick early but it didn't land. He slipped as he threw a right. Weidman is throwing some awkward looping punches. Sakara got off with a nice three punch combo and ended it with a leg kick. He got in another one after a brief combo from Weidman. Weidman threw a kick to set up the clinch and pressed Sakara to the cage. Sakara held him off, however, and got separation. Weidman landed a nice straight right. He got in with a leg kick. Weidman with a two punch combo. He covered up as Sakara threw a combo and he ate a leg kick. Weidman shot in for a single leg and turned it to a double against the cage. Sakara held him off. Weidman finally stood and separated with an elbow. Sakara got in another combination to the body. Weidman tried to land a knee to the head but missed. Weidman again shot in but was stuffed. Weidman landed a few punches. They traded punches in the center. Weidman landed a nice left. Weidman landed a left and kept Sakara's back on the cage. Weidman landed a few more punches as the round ended.
Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Weidman. He was pressing the action throughout, landed a number of good combinations of his own and cut Sakara. Sakara scored with some strikes of his own and good combos, but Weidman just edged it.
ROUND TWO: Weidman shot in for a single leg and completed a takedown very quickly into the round. Wiedman worked in the guard and then passed into side control. He landed a hard elbow and Sakara's bleeding profusely. Weidman is landing some good, hard strikes here early in the round. Sakara tried to escape and Weidman kept him down. Sakara finally swept Weidman and hopped to his feet. He landed a big combination. Weidman got back in close and took Sakara down again. Sakara was able to get back to his feet again. They pause the action to check Sakara's cut but let him return. They traded strikes. Sakara landed a nice combination to the body late in the round before it came to an end.
Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Weidman. He messed Sakara up early and survived the late onslaught. Good round for him.
ROUND THREE: Sakara landed some vicious body shot early and Weidman landed a knee to the head. Weidman shot in and completed another takedown into side control. Sakara tried to work off the cage, but Weidman moved him away. Weidman landed some strikes in side control and opened Sakara back up. Weidman is continuing to land big strikes and Sakara is in trouble. Sakara got half guard back but Weidman continued to work. The ref stood them up with two minutes left. Terrible, terrible standup. Weidman shot in and again took Sakara down against the cage into side control. Weidman worked short forearm strikes to the face. Sakara tried to escape but Weidman kept him on his back. He got to half guard and landed more strikes. Sakara got back to his feet but just briefly as Weidman took him down again. He landed a number of strikes against the cage as the fight came to an end.
Penick's Analysis: 10-9 Weidman. That was another great round to seal it for him after a close first round that could have gone either way. Considering this was only his fifth fight, that was a very good performance.

WINNER: Weidman via unanimous decision (30-27 x3)
POST FIGHT: Weidman thanked the UFC for the opportunity and said he wanted the win really bad. He said he came in there to stop him but isn't surprised he wasn't able to finish him considering he's a veteran.
STAR RATING: (**) It was a good performance from Weidman, but not an entirely thrilling fight. Sakara just didn't have an answer for the takedowns as the fight went on and took a ton of damage down the stretch.

FIGHT THREE: C.B. DOLLAWAY VS. MARK MUNOZ (MIDDLEWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Dollaway came forward and landed a hard leg kick early. Munoz tried to get in close but Dollaway got in and took him down. He almost got a good position but ended up letting Munoz stand up. Munoz cracked him with a huge right and came back at him and landed another big uppercut that sent him sprawling back. Dollaway fell to his back and Munoz landed two hammer fists and Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight. That was too early of a stoppage by Yamasaki. Dollaway was in trouble, but he was still reacting and attempting to grab Munoz. He got hit hard with four punches there.
WINNER: Munoz via TKO at :54 of the first round
POST FIGHT: Joe Rogan said Dollaway went out, I'm seeing those replays differently, but he was definitely hurt. It was quick, but Munoz had him in a bad, bad spot.
STAR RATING: (**) That ended really quickly, and the stoppage may have been a bit early, but it's still a big win for Munoz. It's a rough setback for Dollaway, and brings an end to his three fight win streak.

PRELIM FIGHT B: THIAGO TAVARES VS. SHANE ROLLER (LIGHTWEIGHT)
ROUND ONE: Roller landed a couple of jabs early. He pressed Tavares and landed a couple of punches. He circled away as Tavares came forward. Roller blocked a head kick. Roller landed a left and avoided the overhand right from Tavares. Roller landed a leg kick. Tavares responded with one of his own. Roller got in a body punch. Roller rushed in and missed a combo but ended nicely with a straight kick. Tavares rocked Roller with a combo and a number of strikes on the cage. Goldberg called him a mini Vitor Belfort. Not quite, Mike. Roller recovered, but he was definitely in a bad spot there briefly. He landed a couple of nice jabs on Tavares. He shot in but was held off by Tavares. Roller landed a good leg kick. Tavares blocked an overhand right. Roller pressed Tavares to the cage and landed a straight kick. They got in the clinch and Tavares landed a knee as the round ended.
Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Tavares. He did the most significant damage in the round, and though Roller was aggressive and had some good combos of his own, Tavares did more in the round.
ROUND TWO: Tavares got in with an early combination. Roller landed a kick and Tavares returned one of his own. Roller popped in with a straight right. Tavares shot in and took Roller to the ground. Roller got back to his feet nicely, but Tavares kept a body lock on the cage. Tavares finally let it go and separated. Roller then knocked Tavares out with a right out of nowhere! He followed up with a few unnecessary punches on the ground and the fight is stopped. Huge right from Roller. Tavares fell straight back like Nate Quarry when he was knocked out by Rich Franklin.
WINNER: Roller via KO at 1:28 of the second round.
POST FIGHT: Roller said he wasn't using his movement in the first round, but in the second got some feints in and landed the right.
STAR RATING: (***-) The first round had some good back and forth action, but it was the knockout in the second that brought this fight up. Huge, huge right hand from Roller and a great win. Coming off the win over Jamie Varner, Roller is on a good roll right now.

ROUND ONE: Sanchez came out to the center of the cage but they both tentatively felt each other out early. Kampmann engaged first with a short combination. Sanchez grabbed a thai clinch and landed a knee. He got in a decent short combo. Sanchez with a punch to the body. Kampmann stalked Sanchez but ate a straight right. Sanchez shot for a single leg and pressed Kampmann to the cage. Kampmann stuffed it, turned Sanchez around and landed a knee to the body. Kampmann dropped Sanchez with a straight right and grabbed a front headlock. Sanchez pulled a switch on the cage and got to his feet. They separated and Kampmann continued the striking assault. He landed a nice knee as Sanchez dropped down for a shot. He then stuffed the shot. Sanchez landed a nice pucnh. Kampmann sprawled another shot and just missed a knee. Sanchez landed a good punch to the body. Kampmann came back forward and landed a good short combination. Kampmann landed another counter right and Kampmann is battering Sanchez's face up. Sanchez shot in for a double leg again and got stuffed. Sanchez ate a counter left before the round ended.

STRIKEFORCE "FEIJAO VS. HENDERSON" RESULTS: Marloes Coenen retains title with fourth round submission win over Liz Carmouche

Marloes Coenen had her own Anderson Silva moment on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio, as she bounced back from a beating in rounds two and three to submit challenger Liz Carmouche in the fourth round of their Championship bout.
The Women's 135 lb. Champion made her first successful title defense after a rough beginning to the fight. A rather innocuous first round saw Coenen edge the scorecard, but things picked up in the second.
Carmouche took Coenen down with a couple of minutes left in the second round, and very quickly moved to the mount. In both the second and third rounds, she achieved the mount with relative ease, and spent the bulk of the rounds laying down punishment on Coenen. In all, Carmouche out-landed Coenen 221 to 48 overall in the fight, but the success she had in the second and third wouldn't do her any good in the fourth.
Coenen took Carmouche down early in the round, but Carmouche got back to her feet and took Coenen down yet again. However, Coenen worked immediately toward a triangle choke that she locked on, and forced Carmouche to tap out.
The win was her second straight, and her successful defense likely keeps the originally planned bout for this card with Meisha Tate next in line.
Penick's Analysis: This was a really fun fight. Carmouche proved herself to be a very game challenger despite only two week's notice for a five round Championship fight, and she came close to taking the title there a couple of times when she was on Coenen in the mount. But Coenen proved why she's an extremely dangerous fighter with that fourth round submission. It was beautifully applied after she was taken down and she got it on tight in quick fashion.

Frustrated Kennedy wants fights before heading back to war
Tim Kennedy dispatched of Melvin Manhoef in less than four minutes and took almost no damage in the fight on Saturday night. He's got Robbie Lawler and middleweight champ Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in his sights, but because of Strikeforce's limited schedule, he may have to wait until the fall for another fight with the promotion. That doesn't cut it for the Army Special Forces veteran.
"I feel like I'm wasting my time if I'm not in the cage because I'm a sniper, I'm a Ranger, and I'm a Green Beret. I've been to every cool-guy school that (U.S.) Special Forces has," Kennedy told MMajunkie. "I'm completely wasting my life away if I'm not taking an opportunity to be in a cage. If I'm not in the cage, I'm going to go back to Iraq and Afghanistan. That's just how it's going to work."
Kennedy (13-3) said his bosses/chain of command were at Nationwide Arena to watch him fight. He's serious about achieving his fighting goals and then heading back into service for his country.
"My timeline for me is very clear. I've expressed that to my chain in command. I'm going to fight for a little while, and as soon as I'm done fighting, I'm going to be right back there doing the most important job," said Kennedy.
"It's really one of the most important things about fighting," he said. "I represent a group of people much more important than me. That's the people in uniform right now. Some of the organizations I work with – Soldiers Angels, the Green Beret Foundation – those are the things I really care about. That's what I'm passionate about.
Kennedy's hunger to fight the good fight isn't affected by a lack of appreciation stateside.
"America's America. Those guys over there know how ridiculous the 300 million people in this country are," Kennedy told Spencer Lazara from MMAInterviews.tv (1:54 mark). "But they're still over dying and bleeding and starving to protect the constitutional right that the people have to live in ignorance about what they do over there, so they can enjoy the luxury of their home and follow Charlie Sheen on Twitter. I'll do it. I love America and I'll be over there doing the exact same thing."
After he lost the Strikeforce title bout to Jacare, Kennedy was given seven months off. The promotion owes it to Kennedy to get him back in the cage quickly. There's no reason, if he's winning, he shouldn't fight two or three more times this year.

Headlined by the Welterweight Championship bout between Nick Diaz and Paul Daley, the card will also feature a Lightweight Championship bout between Gilbert Melendez and Tatsuya Kawajiri, a light heavyweight feature fight between Gegard Mousasi and Mike Kyle and a a lightweight fight between Shinya Aoki and Lyle Beerbohm.

An old proverb tells us that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Or maybe that was Dr. Phil. Okay, forget who said it, the point is it's usually true. That's why, as the MMA world sets itself to reading the tea leaves of the Zuffa-Strikeforce deal in an attempt to find out what will come next, we could help ourselves a little by looking at what has come before.
UFC president Dana White told Ariel Helwani (several times, in fact) that it would be "business as usual" over at Strikeforce after the sale. The way he explained it, the two MMA brands will operate as separate entities under the same ownership.

Urijah Faber, Eddie Wineland Trying to Focus on Fight, UFC Title

Ten days before their co-main event bout at UFC 128, bantamweights Urijah Faber and Eddie Wineland said Wednesday they only have one thing on their minds - a win, then a title shot.Though all the pieces would appear to be in place for the winner of the fight to possibly get a coaching spot on this fall's 14th season of "The Ultimate Fighter," both Faber and Wineland, making their UFC debuts, said they can't think about that now.
"I don't know what (the UFC's) criteria is for that - they seem to change it up a lot," Faber (24-4, 9-3 WEC) said on a media conference call. "And I haven't heard anything at all. I feel like this (fight) is a shot to get a title shot, which is most important to me. The reality show thing would be great, but my focus is getting that belt."
