Strikeforce's March 3 event official with Tate-Rousey, Noons-Thomson, Daley-Misaki, and Kaufman-Davis

Strikeforce's Columbus show on March 3 is taking shape quickly, as the organization officially announced four different fights for the card coming to the Nationwide Arena. However, it won't look exactly like it was expected to, as Daniel Cormier won't be ready in time for that card, taking his Heavyweight Grand Prix finals bout with Josh Barnett off the card.

Instead, the headliner is likely to be the officially announced Miesha Tate vs. Ronda Rousey bout for the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship. The fight was reported earlier this week but not confirmed as official until Saturday's Rockhold vs. Jardine event.

In addition to that bout, the previously reported lightweight fight between K.J. Noons and Josh Thomson is official, and two new bouts were added to the card on the broadcast as well.

Sarah Kaufman will take on Alexis Davis in a fight that could put her next in line to fight the winner of Tate-Rousey, and Paul Daley will make his first return to Strikeforce since suffering consecutive losses in April and July of last year to take on Kizuo Misaki.

Tyron Woodley controls Jordan Mein for Strikeforce split decision

Tyron Woodley remained undefeated with split decision win over Jordan Mein at Strikeforce in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Woodley took the wrestling filled match with a 29-28, 28-29, 30-27 score.

In the first round, Mein opened up showing the jab early, with Woodley responding with kicks and a takedown attempt. Mein had good takedown defense, avoiding Woodley's takedown. They were split apart by the referee, and Woodley was able to get the takedown on the second attempt. He held Mein down, landing elbows and knees to the body.

Woodley started strong in the second round with a jab that wobbled Mein and a takedown. From there, Woodley used his wrestling to control Mein for the rest of the round.

The third round started the same as the second, with Woodley ducking under for a takedown. He held down Mein, who had little answer for Woodley's wrestling. The crowd grew restless, and Woodley and Mein were stood up by the referee. Mein tried to land a knee, but Woodley went in for another takedown.

After the fight, Woodley said that he had a hard time dealing with Mein's length, then asked for the shot at the vacant Strikeforce welterweight belt.

Woodley moves to 10-o after this win, while the 22-year-old Mein is 23-8.

Dana White says Brock Lesnar’s run was a positive for MMA

With its two biggest pay-per-view draws (Brock Lesnar and Georges St-Pierre) disappearing in the last month, Dana White could be in a sour mood. But he's not, especially over the sudden retirement of Lesnar last week at UFC 141.

"The way I look at the Brock Lesnar thing is we were lucky to have him around for as long as we did. Look at what he did. It was fun to have him in the UFC while we did. He made the heavyweight division, some exciting fights," White said on "The MMA Insiders" on ESPN1100/98.9 FM in Las Vegas (10:09 mark).

White often tells the story of laughing at Lesnar when he first asked to fight in the UFC. He eventually went on to win the UFC heavyweight title and defend it successfully against Shane Carwin.

"I give him all the credit in the world in what he was able to accomplish, inside the Octagon, in this sport and as a draw for the UFC," White said.

The UFC boss is confident he has plenty of options to fill the void left by Lesnar's retirement and the ACL injury to GSP.

"I think we have a lot of guys. It's not like boxing where everything depends on one guy or two guys. The great thing about us is we got 10 or 15 guys," White said.

Rest assured that Keith Jardine is just as concerned about his weight as everyone else. Even he's expressed doubts looking at the numbers on the scale in recent weeks.

He hired a nutritionist to drop weight. Shouldn't those numbers be smaller?

The answer is no - at least if he's asking said nutritionist. Mike Dolce has been tinkering with calories longer than Jardine, and there's not a bit of worry in him about the Strikeforce title challenger's path to middleweight.

Rockhold suggests it’s time to shine spotlight on ‘true’ fighters not guys like Lesnar

As Brock Lesnar prepped to enter the Octagon at UFC 141, Luke Rockhold, who was cageside, knew the big man was in big trouble.

"I think he was just playing a role. I saw right through him. His confidence looked very ... it didn't appear real," Rockhold told ESPN1100/98.9 FM in Las Vegas.

Rockhold was working the Sin City promotional scene today to push his Saturday fight (Showtime 10 p.m. ET/PT) against Keith Jardine at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel. He didn't pull any punches when it came to Lesnar's performance.

"Did you see him singing the rap country? When he started rapping along to the country song I was like ' what the hell is this guy doing?' I almost saw his lip quivering as he was walking into the cage. He just looked like he was playing a role. He was kind of believing his own hype that people were putting in his ear. I saw true confidence out of Overeem and a true fighter," said Rockhold.

Rockhold called it before the fight and said most of the guys around him at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Ca. were saying the same thing.

"Lesnar's what I thought. All the media and all you guys had Lesnar taking it. The fighters had Overeem," said Rockhold.

Rockhold understands why Lesnar was around, but is hoping younger fighters get more of the spotlight in 2012.

"I think he brought a whole new audience to the sport. So I can't exactly say it's a negative. People really need to see who the true fighters are. Lesnar's not the best in the world. He just got the right matchups and the right fights," said Rockhold.

The 185-pound champ for Strikeforce headlines a deep card with rising prospects like Muhammed Lawal and Tyron Woodley. He was also very bullish on Jordan Mein and Tarec Saffidiene.

Papy Abedi vs. James Head Slated for UFC's Debut in Sweden

Papy Abedi is scheduled to meet James Head in a welterweight bout at the UFC's debut in Sweden on April 14, MMAFighting.com has confirmed with sources close to the fight.

Abedi's involvement on the card is an obvious one, considering he currently fights out of Stockholm, Sweden. Abedi grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo, France and Belgium before moving to Sweden in 1997. The 33-year-old lost his Octagon debut to Thiago Alves via first-round rear-naked choke at UFC 138 in November. The loss marked Abedi's first in nine professional MMA bouts (8-1).

The fight will mark Head's first at 170 pounds since signing with the UFC last year. The 7-2 Head dropped his Octagon debut to Nick Ring at UFC 131. He was supposed to fight John Maguire at UFC 138 but an injury forced him to pull out of the bout.

The card, which will air on FUEL TV, will take place at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The rest of the card has yet to be announced, but Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson, who defeated Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 141, has publicly stated that he would love to fight in his home country.

"I thought Brock would move forward, I hoped more of him. But he told me [in] the Octagon he felt the knees and kicks of Overeem and that he thought he broke his rib. I saw it and it was really red. He told me the last [kick] destabilized him. And then he wished me good luck on this title defense and that was it... He's completely right to retire since he doesn't feel fine when fighting anymore. He said he promised it to his wife and kids... I guess everybody knows when it's time to stop."

-UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos talks to Tatame.com about his conversation with Brock Lesnar after last weekend's UFC 141 event, and agreeing with Lesnar's decision to retire following his loss to Alistair Overeem.

Penick's Analysis: The two fighters spent a lot of time around each other during filming on The Ultimate Fighter's 13th season, so it's cool that they had a short conversation together following the bout. Dos Santos believed he'd be facing off against Lesnar after last weekend, but now he's got a fight with Overeem on tap instead, and he's seen up close and personal what Overeem can do to an opponent. Lesnar had a rough time on Friday night, but after he promised his family he'd be done if he lost that fight, it's an understandable decision that dos Santos certainly can agree with.

Former UFC fighter Browning is big news in Thailand, finally turns himself in

Junie Brownie has been out of the UFC's hair for a while, but he's been back in the news over the last week. Apparently, it's a big deal in Thailand.

The former reality star on Season 8 of "The Ultimate Fighter" got into a big brouhaha at a bar in Phuket on Dec. 13. He fled the hospital where he was being treated for injuries, been missing ever since and the Thai papers are all over the story.

Police have mounted a Phuket-wide hunt for an American man who started one brawl in a Phuket bar then continued it in the emergency treatment ward at Patong Hospital. Police have named the suspect they wish to interview as Allen Browning, 26, a Thai boxer who fled into the night on Sunday in Patong and has not been seen since.

Earlier in the night, Mr Browning allegedly was seen beating up on an expat woman in a bar in Patak Road, Karon. He also lashed out at Thai female bar staff when they tried to intervene, police said.

Four other tourists from Australia and the US also attempted to intervene but Mr Browning lashed out at them, too, police said.

UPDATE: Browning finally showed up at the police station and turned himself in according to Phuketwan.com.

One of those tourist was Simon Menzies. Browning claims it was Menzies, who was the real troublemaker. Fightlinker discovered that Menzies was also in trouble with the law earlier this year during a flight from Sydney to Darwin.

Sydney man Simon Wilson Menzies, 31, was drunk and angry when he told the female cabin crew manager on a flight this week that he could "bring the plane down if he wanted."

Menzies said: "I'm half muslim, half Aboriginal and everyone else is a white [expletive]. I could [expletive] blow up the plane."

[...] The court heard Menzies was on Jetstar flight JQ81 from Brisbane to Darwin on Tuesday com when he became abusive after being refused a fourth beer.

The court heard he was refused service because he continued to be rowdy despite repeated warnings.

After he was refused service Menzies, who is 190cm and solidly built, stood over the cabin crew manager and told her to get the captain.

"Send the captain I will [expletive] smash him I'm the biggest guy on the plane," he said.

None of this comes as much of a shock with Browning. He was nearly kicked off TUF 8 several times for violent outbursts. He survived and was even given two more fights with the promotion.

In 2009, Browning was taken to a Las Vegas area hospital after what was reported to be a failed suicide attempt. He compounded his issue by allegedly attacking a female nurse at the hospital. The UFC immediately released him from his contract. He's gone 1-4 since his stint with the promotion and last fought in August. Frankly, right now fighting is the least of his problems.

Jason Miller agrees with Dana White about his performance

After Jason "Mayhem" Miller lost to Michael Bisping at "The Ultimate Fighter" season 14 finale earlier this month, he took a verbal beating from UFC president Dana White. He called it the worst stand-up and the most lopsided fight he has ever seen.

A disappointed Miller is now training in Holland, and responded to White's comments on his own website.

Dana White was right. He made some disparaging comments about my performance, and I agree with him. I displayed the worst of everything that night in the octagon. I was tense in round one and I locked up after that. I didn't perform to my potential, and I take full responsibility for it. That wasn't a UFC caliber performance, and I'm not happy about it.

After reading about Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira blame his loss on referee Herb Dean, it's refreshing to hear Miller take such responsibility for his loss. He also said that he is taking this loss as a challenge, and ended it with a little bit of an inspirational speech.

My challenge to you, and myself, is to continue to press on and make the most of your adventure here on earth. At the end of your life you want to be sure that you've made your best effort to make a collection of epic stories. Some sorrowful ones, some happy ones and some downright amazing, but the challenge for you is to find and make the most of each of these adventures.

That was the exact inspiration I needed to go finish my Christmas shopping.

Mike Easton vs. Ken Stone Added to UFC on FX Main Card

The UFC has finalized the main card for its debut on the FOX-owned cable channel FX with the addition of a bantamweight bout between Mike Easton and Ken Stone. The organization recently announced the news on its Web site.

UFC on FX airs Friday, Jan. 20, from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. The four-fight main card on FX will be headlined by Jim Miller vs. Melvin Guillard. Also televised will be Josh Neer vs. Duane Ludwig and Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft.

Easton (11-1) won his UFC debut in October when he defeated Byron Bloodworth via second-round TKO. The win improved "The Hulk's" winning streak to six in a row.

Stone (10-3) picked up his first UFC win at UFN 25 when he defeated Donny Walker via first-round submission. Prior to the win, Stone had lost to Scott Jorgensen at the TUF 13 Finale and Eddie Wineland at WEC 53.

The Easton-Stone fight replaces Mike Brown vs. Vagner Rocha on the main card, which was scrapped after Brown pulled out of the fight due to a knee injury.
