Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz is eying a move to the boxing ring this year, and his camp said late last week they're looking at former IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy as his possible opponent.

Lacy has responded to the Diaz camp's call out with a clear message: be careful what you wish for.

"Honestly, I was a little stunned," Lacy said of the call-out in a statement from his camp. "Nick has accomplished a great deal in mixed martial arts and is certainly one of the best in the sport. But getting in the ring with me for a boxing match is a path he needs to be very wary of taking. I'm willing to put it all on the line anytime, anywhere!"

Diaz said last week to HDNet's Inside MMA program that he's not sure how much of a future he has in MMA, and believes the money hasn't been right for him while expecting bigger paydays in a boxing ring. Lacy concurred with the money issue, and said as long as the price is right for them both, he's ready for the fight.

?For the right price, I'm more than interested in heading to his turf and put my fist in his mouth and silencing him."

Lacy holds a professional boxing record of 25-4 with one no contest. He won the IBF super middleweight title in 2004 and defended it four times before a one-sided decision loss to Joe Calzaghe in 2006. However, Lacy has lost his last two fights, most recently by decision last December.
